My Substack is free, but writing is how I pay my bills and feed my pups. If you’d like to subscribe, please do! If that’s too big a commitment and you’d like to make a one-time donation instead (maybe a cup of really good coffee?), I would appreciate that, too. Many thanks for your support.
Hey, friends! I’ve been wracking my brain to try and figure out how to be more consistent with my newsletter. As I’m sure you’re all aware (“I’m well aware…” as my son, Gus, famously says…), I tend to write when my emotions are high. That’s the content a lot of you are here for, and I’ll continue to share my words when I’m happy and sad and excited and grieving and everything in between.
But I also want to continue to build my subscriber base (especially since my memoir now has a birthday!!), and the word on the street is that consistency is the key to that kind of growth.
So, I’m introducing “Earth Experiences” — posts that will hit your inbox every Thursday. “And what will they be about?” you ask.
(You did ask that, right?)
Well, here’s the short answer: They’ll be about something that I experienced on this big, beautiful earth the week before—something that I want to share with you.
That’s it. Easy peasy.
Topics will range from waiting in line at the grocery store to introducing you to someone I love to jetting off to Paris to birdwatching escapades. Maybe a book review. Maybe a new song I’ve discovered (or one that my kids have told me about). Maybe a movie review. I’m going to stop and smell the flowers. And then I’m going to write about those flowers and how they smelled. And then I’m going to encourage you to smell some flowers, too!
That sounds pretty vague, you say?
It is. By design.
(And the Paris thing? That’s just me manifesting in the best way I know how. Dear Paris, I’ll get to you someday. I promise. Love, Me.)
Not only do I want to bring you more consistency, I want to start examining this life with a little more wonder and awe. Birds and flowers might sound boring to you, but I promise I’ll find something interesting to report. And grocery store lines? There’s always something to examine while waiting in line. That’s just People Watching 101.
I don’t know about you, but I often rush through my precious, limited, lovely days with my eyes glued to my computer/phone/book and my mind on anything but experiencing life’s most beautiful gifts.
This is my promise to change that habit, to look up, to look out, and to, perhaps, inspire you to do the same.
Let’s look together, friends.
See you next Thursday for our first Earth Experience!
(Here’s a tiny preview…)
YES, please❣️ Beauty hunting as Jennifer Pastiloff, encourages us. I too can't wait. 🌻
I've been so gobsmacked by the sight of Paris (even in the rain!) on TV that I just ordered a book, Joie, that promises to be visually beautiful!
