As many of you know (and a few of you don’t) my debut novel, PARTING GIFTS, was published by She Writes Press almost ten years ago. Spring 2016 was a whirlwind of book tour stops, book club appearances, and special event signings. It was a magical time—a dream come true—and I’m ready to do it all over again in Spring 2026 with my memoir, HURRICANE LESSONS (coming from Sibylline Press).
But because it’s nearly ten years old, PARTING GIFTS is currently out of print. (Sad trombone.) Never fear, however, I have copies available for purchase (and I will autograph them for free)!
I’ll be sharing a few chapters of PARTING GIFTS here on Surrendering to Sappho, and if the Mathers sisters pique your interest, you can click the button below to send me a message with your payment preference (e.g., Venmo, Zelle, Paypal, etc.) and your shipping address.
PARTING GIFTS is $16.95, and US shipping is an additional $4.00. (For non-US orders, please reach out to me for shipping cost.) For the low, low price of just $20.95, you can lose yourself in lives that will probably make you feel much better about your own. 😬
Here’s what early readers had to say about PARTING GIFTS:
“In PARTING GIFTS, Willis paints a portrait of three sisters with careful and exacting strokes. All three women are seeking to overcome their own personal and shared tragedies, and you will become attached to each one of them as they make their way back home to each other.” ~ T. Greenwood, author of Two Rivers, Bodies of Water, and The Forever Bridge
“Katrina Willis can take a painful experience and offer enlightenment. She can take a hardship and reveal opportunity. She can describe deep despair and make you feel hopeful. How? Through her extraordinary gift of detail and language … through her brave willingness to go where others dare not go. Unlike any author I’ve ever read, Willis transports me into a moment so I can see, hear, taste, and feel it as if I am there. And when I am lost in one of her stories, I don’t want to come back.” ~
, New York Times bestselling author of Hands Free Mama and Hands Free Life“This is NOT A BEACH READ!” ~ My dear friend, Katy, who—crying and yelling—threw an early copy at me on the beach at St. George Island
And here’s the back cover copy for your reading pleasure:
Broken by their unorthodox Midwestern childhood, sisters Catherine, Anne, and Jessica Mathers search for love, acceptance, and worth—often in the most unlikely places.
Catherine, the oldest of the Mathers sisters, is an English professor battling breast cancer with Cytoxan, red wine, and profanity. Anne is a wife and stay-at-home mother of two who’s struggling to make ends meet in a suburban existence that both suffocates and confounds her. Jessica, the youngest by ten years and estranged—by choice—from her family, is an exotic dancer who feels safer on stage than in a relationship. But when the sisters are faced with an incomprehensible loss, they are forced to reevaluate themselves, their damaged bonds, and their fragile future.
I’ll be sharing a few free chapters in the coming days, so please stay tuned for more. I’m so proud of this award-winning Little Book That Could, and I hope the Mathers sisters will weave their way into your hearts … just like they did mine.
