I'm weepy lately so this really got me.. she is trusting you both now.. what a home you have given her where she is feeling just safe enough. I love this love story. <3
Love this. Makes me miss my Spotty so much. Although, considering she was rescued off the street in Antigua, Guatemala, in 2019, she was not scared or timid at all.
Ruby reminds me of one of my fosters in Guate. You are both fortunate to have found each other.
Bless you for working in animal rescue. I would love to do that, but I'm not sure I could handle the toughest cases. You are a saint to help those sweet babies. XO
Ha! That’s 100% Sissy. She’ll take a treat out of your hand as gently as a baby, but if a big, goofy doodle comes near her, she’s not messing around! ;)
You are accepting her just as she IS. Isn't that all we can truly ask of one another as sentient beings? Oh, dear Ruby, her timeline, not needing to always make herself so small now to feel safe. Very much like many of us as woman, yes? No more needing to take up less space than we need and sprawling out and allowing ourselves to ooze out all over. Our animal pals are such wise teachers, aren't they? Both of you waiting for just as long as needed. Oh, I adore this story SO much. Big LOVE to YOU all. 🐾💜
Big LOVE right back to YOU, Joanie. I love your observation about Ruby making herself small and unseen, just like we women often do. I'm going to think about that every time she sprawls out in front of me now. And I'm going to give myself permission to do the same. XO

Thanks for your sweet words, Mesa. <3
Aw, that's so nice to hear. Dogs make us pay attention, and that's a very good thing.
They definitely help us see things differently, don't they? <3

We are so fortunate. She's the sweetest girl. I'm sorry about your Spotty. <3
I am glad she found you both.
Me, too. 😊
It's lovely to see them blossom when they feel safe. I worked in animal rescue for seven years and every single time I saw it, I shed a tear or two.

If the front lines are too challenging, you could always provide a foster home. They always need a soft place to land while they wait to be adopted.
I will do that someday when I no longer have my own pups. My little pocket pittie LOVES humans, but she can be unpredictable with other dogs.
My little old lady is 15 now, and I always had to watch her like a hawk because she likes to start dogfights. Usually with dogs five times her size.
