We experienced a similar social shift when my husband embraced recovery. Our entire social circle shifted and I see those couples we used to hang out with doing those things -- parties and vacatoins -- without us. It does hurt. I'm glad you have found a community to embrace and be embraced by.
I'm so sorry you experienced a similar shift. I think sometimes when we change what people "know" about us, it creates fear and uncertainty in them. Whatever the case, though, I understand how much pain it causes. I hope you, too, have found a new group that accepts and embraces you both. <3
