I relate to so much of this.

I love this perspective -- my gender-fluid kid (33) lives six hours across the state, and I have only seen them twice since the pandemic. Sometimes I feel less like someone's mother than the women I know who can get their grown kids to come together for matching pajama shots every Christmas. But mine wouldn't have worn matching PJs anyway! When I was growing up (I'm 57 this week), my expectation was that people moved out into the world from their childhood homes, but I see a renewed kind of emphasis just on traditional family, and it does make me second guess. And also makes my heart squeeze. Happy Mother's Day!
