What a great post! Ruby and Sissy have many lessons for us humans in how to get your needs met, conquer challenges, and face your fears. And your patience with these sweet pups is a vital ingredient to their “success” at overcoming so much. I felt the love going in both directions here. Brava!

I don't have a dog, but I kind of want one. Maybe when I get back from my travels this fall, or when my old lady cat dies. I'm such a cat lady. IDK how to "dog" but I'm willing to try.
The BEST! I’m currently obsessed in all matters of DOG! 🐶 Your observations, knowing them as you do and allowing them to BE fully who they are. Feeling the love and I have a Velcro dog too. His job is ME! Poor kid, I always tell him he could diversify, yet he’s not having it. 🐾☺️Such a delightful read, Katrina. My thanks! Xo💜
His name is Zuke and he is a mini Aussie. The most loyal boy ever and 14 now so everyday is precious. My husband always teases and says,”It’s all about mother.” 😂 Contrary to our daughter when she was 15 and told me that everything wasn’t about me. 😳 A hard knock moment indeed, yet an aspect about myself I needed to delve into, explore and heal. Our children are our teachers, yes?! I’ve had many dogs, yet this one has my soul. We are forever grateful to have found one another and we promise each other that we will again when that time comes. 🐾💕🐾
Omg I love them so much!! Tell them they have an auntie in Las Vegas who can't wait to give them loves (only if ruby is okay with it). Sissy's smile is everything!!!
Ruby will just want to sneeze-bark and sniff you first, then she'll be good to go. Auntie Mesa is always welcome to come stay with us and be slobbered in Sissy kisses. XO
What a sweet post! Ruby reminds me of Harriett, the puppy mill dog who was blind and deaf my partner adopted. She never allowed petting, and circled the kitchen endlessly. Harriett lived until she was 17 when we had to put her down … we were finally able to pet her. Sissy reminds me of the two sweet pit bulls my daughter adopted. Btw, it seems like Chicken Soup for the Soul looks for dog stories every year. They pay $250 and send you 10 books.
Oh, sweet Harriett. That's such a beautiful story. Thanks for the Chicken Soup link. I've published there a couple of times. I forget about them sometimes, so I appreciate the reminder. XO
I wanted to mention that I am reading, Dog Medicine, by Julie Barton after reading about her on Substack. It’s a fabulous read just in case it hasn’t crossed your path. 🐾💜

Thanks, Amy. Despite their quirks, they're expert teachers. XO

Sissy could help you learn. XO

"His job is ME!" I love that. It's so true, isn't it. They're a part of our world, but we're their entire world. What's your velcro dog's name? XO

Oh, my heart. Zuke sounds so very special. Aussies are so gorgeous. And yes, our kids can definitely be the most brutal of teachers! 😂❤️
